The needles used for Botox are very small, so pain is usually minimal. Ice is applied beforehand to control the bleeding and bruising. The injection takes about 10 minutes, with no downtime afterward.
There is no particular preparation before having Botox injection. However it is recommended to not take any blood thinner or anticoagulants medication or supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or Gingko Biloba a few days prior to avoid bruising.

Botox is not permanent. It lasts for three to six months. After the effect wears off, the muscle will return to its function.
